American Candy BarJuly 6, 2010 No Comments
Every Independence Day, Memorial Day, and Labor Day, my father’s family gets together to hold a big, raucous picnic. As he has five brothers and sisters and numerous nieces/ nephews, cousins, great-aunts and uncles, and pets, it can be a fairly boisterous affair. We have the usual suspects for lunch and dinner, hot dogs, hamburgers, and barbecue chicken… however, when it comes to dessert, we agree on a theme and then compete for the best one via secret ballot. This year, I suggested that each family member bring a different red, white, or blue candy for our candy bar. I wanted to share the contenders with you so I asked my family in advance what they are bringing – here’s a sample of the more creative candies tried out this Sunday.
Aunt Sarah (dad’s youngest sister) – American Pop Culture Pops
Uncle Brian (dad’s younger brother) – Hershey Miniatures
Great Aunt Maureen (dad’s aunt) – Lady Liberty Kennedy Coins
Grandpa – Bazooka Bubble Juice Bubble Gum Nuggets
Carter (my little cousin) – All Star Sports Kabob
And the winner was… Uncle Brian! Everyone loves miniature Hershey’s, because there is such a variety of our favorite chocolate bars.
I hope everyone had a great 4th!Tags: Sweet City CandyOther
